The Resonance of Abundance: Why Money Slips Away

Have you ever noticed how slippery money can feel?

You think you’ve finally got ahead… and then something unexpected takes it. You get a win… but it never feels like enough. Even when the numbers rise, there’s still that little knot of worry in your stomach.

I know that feeling. I’ve lived that cycle too. And good golly it’s exhausting!

For the longest time, I thought money was just about knowing my numbers and how to budget. I’d make plans such as, how much would I need to live on if I lost my job? Or how much do I have now and how far can that go based on my current living expenses? Then, I’d project it out, try to expand it because if the balance was higher, I’d feel safer. If the bills were covered, I’d finally relax. However, while plans and budgets are all well and good because money loves, loves, loves to be organised and, therefore, cared for, plans don’t do anything at all to help bring in more money.

Why? Because money isn’t just about knowing your numbers. It’s about resonance. It’s about recognising and being in the energy flow of money and knowing that you are.

Why Wanting and Chasing Doesn’t Work

When I was stuck in the numbers game, I thought that once I knew how much I wanted and declared it to the universe, I’d see opportunities to make more. So then it all became about the game called, ‘how to make more money’. And truth be told, I did make more money during that time - I went from a net worth of 6-figures to a net worth of 7-figures, but man, it wasn’t easy and it didn’t stick around long once I’d realised I’d finally “made it”.

The more I focused on chasing ways to make money and wanting to reach some sort of summit where I could stop playing the game, the more life found ways to remind me: not enough, not safe, not yet, not yours, and the flow of money out became way stronger than the flow of money in.

Chasing comes from lack. It’s an energy of grasping. It says: I don’t have what I want it. I must go out and get it. And life mirrors back that energy, that frequency, that reality in so many ways.

Resonance, Alignment, Flow

Resonance, on the other hand, is when your heart and mind agree. It’s when your choices, feelings, and actions line up with who you already are — not who you’re still hoping to become. That’s what all of this living life is about anyway — remembering who we are, coming back home to our “I Am”-ness.

Resonance feels like flowing, playful, contented, free and easy-breezy congruency. Alignment in its truest sense of the word.

And when in resonance, money — like all other wanted things in your life that could also be well aligned (health, love, friendship, purpose, etc) — doesn’t slip away. It arrives, multiplies, and sticks.

My $50K in 30 Days

This is how I once generated $50K in a single month. Not from grinding or white-knuckling. It came from playing.

Way back in the day (full disclosure, I’m a crypto OG and I’ve seen and done it all/crashed and burned and flown and excelled, all because I was around, curious enough and not particularly risk averse, when Bitcoin was nascent — but that’s a story for another day), I was experimenting with a newly released and somewhat risky financial instrument called BTC options. But I wasn’t tense, desperate, or overthinking. I was curious, I was enjoying myself and I pretty much just assumed it would go well because, how hard could it be?

And it did go well. Better than I ever expected. I opened up three positions that I felt pretty confident in and yet light enough to not worry too much about it working out or not —that wasn’t a budgeting trick, it was resonance.

Next minute, my three positions had generated $50K in an appreciating asset. Boom. No drama, no hype, no chasing, nothing. It was just there. Thank you, Money!

Practical Steps on Getting Resonant

Here’s how you can practice resonance today:

  1. Check your alignment. Are your words, feelings, and actions aligned — or are you saying “abundance” while living or feeling “lack”?

  2. Choose to be playful and drop importance. Ask yourself: would I do this whether or not money came from it? If the answer is yes, you’re in resonance.

  3. Relax into flow. Stop checking every five minutes. Let life surprise you. This allows you to give up the need to judge every little outcome or hurdle along the way to you achieving your goal, which chucks you out of resonance.

  4. Notice the proof. Celebrate small and big signs of alignment — that’s resonance strengthening.

Money doesn’t just respond to numbers. It responds to you.

When you chase it, it runs. When you resonate with it, it finds you. It wants to be your friend.

So maybe the better question isn’t “How much do I have?” — but “What am I resonating with today?”
